The trip to the Promise land was an 11 days journey, but it took the Israelites 40 years to get there. Why? Ultimately it was Because they believed that the battle was theirs.
But more importantly – why do people still believe and teach that the Kingdom of Heaven (our promised Land) is somewhere in the future a place we are still trying and must fight to reach?
“The Kingdom of Heaven started when Jesus came to earth. This is what is meant by John when he said, “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” He implied that the kingdom of heaven is now available today in the Person of the King.”
God promise has been made available to us the moment we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. You don’t have to keep going round a mountain just circling trying to be good enough, right enough, believing enough, or knowledgeable enough to obtain what He has already given us. – (read Rev 12-11). Even in the mist of our in insecurities, fears and doubts, He remains faithful.
Again –
The promised land was a foreshadowing of what was to come and would be made available to us Through faith in Jesus Christ. Going around the mountain illustrates how not to do it. Remember, On the cross Jesus said, “it is finished.”. I don’t know why so many people are convinced otherwise. Its like have a giant thanksgiving day meal set before you, but your too busy to eat. And all the while you’re starving instead of partaking of All He has already given us.
